Recent reviews on research implementation underscore the significance of Research and Development (R&D) endeavours and lifelong learning initiatives for grassroots innovators to attain sustainable development effectively. The literature review and case study encompass several crucial factors, including disseminating the concept of grassroots innovation to the public focusing on its implications for income generation, social progress, and environmental advancement. Grassroots innovation encompasses utilising diverse resources and indigenous technologies to foster a more innovative and creative approach towards product development practices. In the realm of grassroots innovation practices, the development of products and processes is driven by many factors, including personal interests or hobbies, addressing needs, dealing with difficulties, and several other reasons. Multiple perspectives have been examined in discussions surrounding the behaviours of innovators and the underlying reasons behind their creation of products and innovations. The exploration and revelation of these grassroots activities are crucial, given their profound influence on income generation and social values. Local grassroots innovators often encounter challenges due to insufficient skills, knowledge, and access to technology. These limitations can impede their progress in product development and hinder their ability to innovate effectively. This study aims to identify the behaviour of grassroots innovators in product development practices and explore the potential avenues that improve the capacity building of grassroots innovators and further drive sustainable development.
